[It is dawning on Ruby very quickly how badly she misread this entire situation. She just sits there feeling very stunned and very dumb.

[She's just kind of started babbling. There's a distinct pause between her words but she says them all incredibly quickly.

It's his hand taking hers that snaps her out of it. There's a pause before she squeezes his hand back. She doesn't relax it either, she matches his grip just to let him know she understands.]
