[Ruby's still reeling from watching the trial. It just felt mark in the long list of failures she had been piling up this month. It wasn't like her and Neo were friends, she knew it was what Neo had spent the last few months trying her damndest to accomplish. She had just been so close to making actual progress. Neo wasn't at the wheel when she did it, or at least it wasn't the Neo she had been talking to over the last couple months. Just like Varian hadn't been himself. She had let them both down in the end.

...Then she gets the call from Varian and she can't help but feel like she's screwed up all over again. She can hear the hurt in his voice and she curls up in a ball on her bed. She just wasn't ready to face this or any of the mistakes she had made this month.
